The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Pangambam Rabi at Chandigarh has warned the Chandigarh and Manipur Governments of launching severe agitation if the demands of the JAC are not fulfilled within a time frame.
A statement issued by the JAC convenor today demanded that the CBI should be entrusted to probe the case of Rabi's death and the findings should be brought out within five days time.
It also demanded befitting punishment against the culprits.
The JAC also urged the public to extend cooperation towards its fight for justice.
The JAC stated that the last rite of Pangambam Rabi was perfomed in Chandigarh as the dead body was getting highly decomposed.
Stating that Pangambam Rabi was an obedient and studious student since his childhood with a promising career, the JAC statement said his death was a great loss to the State as well.
On the otherhand, even though State officials have reached Chandigarh and talked with the Home Secretary and the DGP of the northern State, the cause of Pangambam Rabi's death remains unknown.
Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu and ADG (L/O) LM Khoute, Rabi's father and elder brother held a meeting with the Home secretary and top police officials of Chandigarh together with Manipuri students studying the city.
On their part, Chandigarh Police gave copies of Rabi's post mortem to his family as well as the State officials.
The post mortem report negated any sign of Ravi sustaining injuries before death.
But the exact cause of death could not established as yet and Chandigarh Police were still working on it.
