Rain water inundates low areas in Manipur

Imphal, July 28 2015:
Following incessant rains in the past few days, there are reports of inundating low lying areas in most of the four valley districts.
The residential areas, paddy fields and roads in and around Imphal area inundated by the clogged drains.
With no Government initiative, the situation may be aggravated as the weatherman is predicting more rains in the coming days.
In Thoubal district, most of the residential and paddy fields have been inundated.
The Wangjing river has breached in some areas.

The villagers said that the officials have not rushed flood control materials.
The water levels of the Lilong and the Thoubal rivers are increasing.
In Bishnupur District, some rivers have breached and as a result, residential areas, fish farms and paddy fields have been flooded.
The loss of the affected farmers is expected to be enormous.
In Chandel District, the Chakpi river is running at danger level.
The overflowing water had destroyed the fields where maize and other vegetables are grown along the river banks.
