Tamenglong gets 215 days of Electricity in 2011

Imphal, January 16, 2012:
The neglected Tamenglong District continued to remained darks for the last three days.
People living in this District are facing inconveniences due to lack of electric current and kerosene oil.
In the surveyed conducted by this reporter it is found out that out of 365 days in 2011, the district got 215 days of electricity including one hour of electricity in a day.
The remaining 150 days remained in total darkness.
Even then the department charged full amount for the whole year except for two months of exemption.
It is also came to light that the department is also able to collect electric bills only from government employees through force payment in the form of producing no due certificate during disbursement of monthly salaries.
The department has also increased the monthly consumption taxes from Rs 195 to Rs.243.The new rate is likely to take effect from November and December 2011. The department is finding it very hard to determine how much to charge the individuals as there are no meter box installed.
During the survey it is also revealed that out of 215 days of electricity supplied in 2011, January month has recorded as regular supplied.
In the month of February the district has received only 11 days of electricity, likewise in 12 days in March, 15 days in April, 19 days in May, 16 days in June, 23 days in July, 5 days in August, 15 days in September, 13 days in October, 25 days in November and 27 days in December 2011 .
