Imphal, January 16, 2012:
Maring Students; Union (MSU) and Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) have expressed surprise and shock over the conduct of President and General Secretary of Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA) in encouraging violence in Maring inhabited areas in the run up to the forthcoming elections to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
In a joint statement, President of MNY D Shiltrim and President of MSU Moshun Charanga pointed out that the three Maring organizations have sat together on January 11 at MUA Branch office and agreed to warn individuals or groups from threatening, kidnapping or torturing civilians by using external force in connection with the upcoming election.
But MUA has denied this fact.
The pretention of MUA clearly shows aggressiveness and defying the mandate given by the Maring people, the joint statement said, while announcing that MSU and MNY have intensified its stand of not supporting NPF candidate in 42- (ST) Tengnoupal A/C as the process of selecting candidate is unacceptable to Maring people.
