Shoot out victim named as AR man

Imphal, January 16, 2012:
Of the three suspected UG cadres shot dead in an encounter with Imphal West commandos on the road connecting Iroishemba to Lamdeng last night, one has turned out to be an Assam Rifles personnel.
The deceased AR personnel has been identified as one Md Abdul Haque (25) of Lilong Leihaokhong.
However, the family has not yet claimed the corpse.
The other two deceased have also been identified as Moirangthem Ibungo (30) of Heirok Part III Tourangbam Leikai and Thokchom Dinanta (38) of Heirok Part III Kabo Leikai.
It is said that Ibungo was an SPO personnel while Dinanta was earlier imprisoned for having nexus with a UG group.
Notably, one AK-56 rifles, one M-20 pistol, one IED and a hand grenade were recovered from the encounter site.
The IED was set off safely by explosive experts of Manipur Police the same night.
Meanwhile, the UG suspect shot dead in a gun fight with security forces at Narankonjil in the night of January 14 has also been identified.
He was one Thangjam Anil alias Thoithoi (22) of Khurai Tinsid Road.
His real home is at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai but he grew up at his maternal grand-mother's home in Khurai Tinsid Road.
Contending that Anil was shot dead after being apprehended, protest demonstrations were staged today at Khurai and Thangmeiband.
The protesters maintained that it was unacceptable to kill a person in cold blood even if he had many faults.
It would have been a civilized practice if the apprehended person was punished following due legal procedures, they asserted.
They further demanded that a thorough investigation should be conducted into the killing Anil alias Thoithoi and all those security personnel involved in the killing should be punished according to law.
