Imphal, June 07 2018:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has condemned the Directorate of Education (S) for allegedly trying to select students who failed to appear the Common Entrance Test (CET) based on favouritism, instead of the students who appeared for the said exam.
Speaking to media persons at KSA office at Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai today evening, its secretary general Seram Hemjit narrated that on May 13, Directorate of Education (S) conducted the CET for selecting eligible students to get class XI admission to 14 Government Higher Secondary School, even before the declaration of the HSLC examination.
Even though KSA repeatedly appealed the authority concerned to refrain from conducting the CET before the declaration of the HSLC results, the exam was conducted as if trying to copy other States and as if trying to compete with private educational institutes, Hemjit added.
He also claimed that due to the hectic and rushed nature of the exam, many students from far off places of the State failed to appear for the exam.
Hemjit alleged that now, the Directorate is attempting to select students who failed to even appear for the exam, based on favouritism and by sidelining many other students who had appeared for the exam.
This step will create immense inconveniences for the students who took part in the CET, Hemjit said and claimed that it would not be wrong to say that the CET was conducted just for namesake, with the real agenda being to milk as much money as possible.
KSA will not remain silent in the face of such unethical practices of the Directorate, he warned and added that if the authority concerned fails to heed the warning, it will have to bear the responsibility of any untoward incident which might occur in the future.
