KWU seeks arrest of culprits

Taking into account the terrifying incident of drugging a girl on a running passenger bus that happened last week along National Highway 2, the Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills today appealed the Government and the Police to find and book the culprit involved in the case without delay.
On May 30 a girl on her way to Keithelmanbi was drugged with sedative and looted (mobile phone) onboard a passenger bus plying Imphal -Kangpokpi road.
Another girl from Kangpokpi DHQs, after she came across the story in the newspaper on May 31, has claimed that a similar incident had happened to her on May 13.Interestingly the route of the bus was also found to be same, said the women union.
The union taking serious note of the reported incidents said that the incident may not be restricted only to looting.
These incidents challenge the safety of women and if not curbed they may lead to rape and murder also, asserted the union seeking attention of the Government.
The Government should take exemplary actions against the culprit to deter repeatition of such incidents, said the union.
In connection with the incidents of May 13 and May 30, the victims has lodged complaints at Kangpokpi Police Station on June 1 and subsequently FIR has been registered under Section 380/336 IPC No 13(6) 18 .
