Gadkari assures to task NHAI for improvement of NHs connecting Manipur

President of Manipur unit of BJP, Th Chaoba Tuesday informed that Union Surface Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has assured a delegation of the State BJP that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be asked to take over the charge of National Highways improvement work in Manipur and strip off the task from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Addressing a press meet at the party office here, Chaoba said Gadkari promised the State BJP team to task NHAI for the improvement work of the three National Highways connecting Manipur-Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37), Imphal-Dimapur road (NH-2) and Imphal-Aizwal road (NH-150)-and replace BRO.
The State BJP team recently visited New Delhi where it met nine Union Ministers and raised various key issues of the State.

In a meeting, Gadkari promised the team that he would visit Manipur soon to oversee the present status of all National Highways connecting the State, Chaoba said.
The State unit of BJP delegation also called on Union Agriculture Minister, Radha Madhop during the visit.
During the meeting the delegation proposed Madhop for setting up a Central Agricultural University in the State, improvement of irrigation facilities in both the hill and the valley, taking up various horticulture schemes and fishery policies.
The delegation later called on Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and urged him to take steps for improving the condition of all Government health centres, community and district hospitals, apart from the two major hospitals, RIMS and JNIMS, in the State.
Union Minister for Forest & Environment, Prakash Javedkar was also met by the team and demanded him to review the ecological status of Loktak Lake and Loktak Lake Protection Act, 2006 .
The State BJP team then called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and urged the two leaders to ensure protection of life and properties of the people of Manipur.
It further urged the two leaders to take proper steps for curbing the menace of drug trafficking in the State and recruitment of unemployed youths of the State in the Central Paramilitary force.
During the meeting, Kiren Rijiju assured the team that he would be visiting the State to personally look into the related issues.
Union Donor minister VK Singh was also urged by the team to take necessary action to establish a sports university in the State during a separate meeting.
The State BJP team further met Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani and urged her to ensure improvement of the present condition of the education sector of the State.
The team later submitted representation to the PMO pleading to enhance the quality of the State's judiciary system besides increasing the number of Judges.
A report on the State Information Commission and State Human Rights Commission, which have now remained defunct, was also submitted to the Prime Minister's Office requesting it to look into the matter.
During the visit the State BJP team also met Union Minister for Urban Development & Parliamentary Affairs, Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thaawar Chand Gehlot.
