Burial of housewife halted, husband arrested

The burial process of a young house wife has to be halted abruptly today after the victim's family members found marks of strangulation on the neck of the woman while cleaning the body.
Police was informed and a case registered while the dead body has been deposited at the morgue of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for post-mortem.
According to the police, Arapjan (22), wife of Ajam Khan (25) s/o Haeir Khan of Khundrei Maning Leikai under Kakching police station, Thoubal district died last night.
Her parents, who stay at Sangaiyumpham Part-2 in Moirangpalli Bazar under Thoubal police station, were informed about the death at around 9 pm yesterday.
Today, as per the Muslim practice, the burial process was being carried and as part of it the dead body was bathed.
While doing so strangulation marks were found at Arapjan's neck.
Similar marks were also noticed on her thigh and hands.
The burial process was halted abruptly and the matter was reported to the police.
Later, Arapjan's husband Ajam Khan and her father-in-law Haeir Khan were picked up by the police for interrogation.
