JAC threatens stir over SI killing

Giving 8 am of June 25 as the deadline for nabbing the culprit (s) involved in killing of Mayengbam Krishnadas of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi Ningthoujam Leikai, a Sub-Inspector who was found stabbed to death by unidentified persons at Sadokpam Leirak near FCI Godown under Lamphel Police Station on June 21, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of M Krishnadas Singh, SI of Bishnupur Police which was formed to seek justice has threatened to launch intense agitation if the concerned authorities fails to nab the culprit (s) within the set deadline.
Meanwhile, condemning the killing of the SI, the JAC organized a protest rally today.
Starting off from the ground of Mayai Koibi Development Association, the rally passed through several places before returning to the starting point where a public meeting was held.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, K Mahendra, convener of the JAC, informed that a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister this morning urging him to arrest the culprit (s) involved in the killing for awarding befitting punishment.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the DGP and Lamphel Police Station to nab the culprit (s) at the earliest through telephone in front of the JAC members, he said.
Among other demands, the memorandum urged for providing a suitable government job to the son of the deceased apart from an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs, Mahendra disclosed, adding that the memorandum has also made it clear that the dead body will not be accepted until all the demands raised are met by the government.
