Jiribam, July 04 2020:
Different CSOs based in Jiribam have asked the State Government to take full responsibility for the abrupt COVID status changes seen in the district.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet organised by All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA), Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) and IPSA Jiribam at Hilghat Community Hall, AJUCA president Maipaksana Mangang near 30 police and VDF personnel deployed in Jiribam were reported positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Saying that such vast detection of COVID infected persons from a more frontline is very unfortunate, he appealed to the State Government to provide adequate protective health gear to health professionals deployed in the district to effectively fight the pandemic.
He further asked the State Government to install a mobile COVID testing equipment in Jiribam.
Also asking where all the technicians of Jiribam Hospital had gone, Maipaksana appealed to the State Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
He also opined that referring patients for treatment to Silchar and Cachar by doctors of Jiribam Hospital will only increase the risk of COVID infection.
President of JDO N Sadananda also said that shortage of staff and laboratory equipment in this trying time is very unfortunate and asked the State Government to solve the problem at the earliest.
