Imphal, July 04 2020:
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the State Government and the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department to immediately furnish the pending Utilization Certificates (UCs) at the earliest and stated that the non submission of the pending UCs will attract intense form of agitations from the tribal students' union.
In its statement, ATSUM expressed serious concern over the functioning of the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, claiming that funds sanctioned by the Department for developmental works in tribal areas are frequently diverted or not released by the Finance Department, which has crippled the functioning of Tribal Affairs Department.
It also claimed that the family oriented schemes and developmental projects are not released on time to the targeted beneficiaries.
Further, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs had requested the State Government to furnish the pending Utilization Certificate (UC) and Physical Progress Report (PPR) to the Ministry in respect of grants under Special Central Assistance (SCA) .
However, it would seem that the Government has not responded to the request, it stated.
ATSUM in this regard has urged the State Government and the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department to immediately furnish the pending UCs within the time frame to avoid unwanted complications in approval of grants by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The union cautioned to launch intense agitations in case of non submission of the pending UCs by the State Government.
