Rains bring havoc in Senapati

Senapati, July 04 2020:
The incessant rain that continued for more than 1 hour at Senapati had destroyed properties of different shops worth more than Rs 4 lakh.
The Senapati River that flows through the town also overflowed.
Reports from sources maintained that newly transplanted fields also have been destroyed though no human casualty is reported till filing of this report.
Sic shops situated at Taphou Phyamai village near Mt Everest Parking area were badly damaged by the overflowing of the drain beside the NH-2.Villagers said that the drain that comes from Taphou Kuki village runs for over a kilometre and has only one ring culvert, where the water overflowed and destroyed the shops belonging to six different families.
In this regard, the Taphou Phyamai and Taphou Liangmai village elders have appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter immediately for public safety.
The Senapati River flowed above the bridge leading to different colonies affecting paddy fields, houses and other structures situated near the river bank.
