Nemcha Kipgen chairs meeting, distributes protective gears

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen chaired another review meeting with District Administration, police, medical and other frontline workers of the district today at the Conference Hall in DC office Kangpokpi.
DC Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam, SP Kangpokpi Hemant Pandey, CMO Kangpokpi Dr Nilakanta Singh, Addl SP (Ops) Kangpokpi Lalminlen Misao, AC to DC Kangpokpi Kaigoulal Kipgen, all SDOs, DLOs from PHED, PWD, MSPDCL, DSO and health officials attended the meeting.
At the outset, Minister Nemcha Kipgen appreciated the medical department under the leadership of Dr Nilakanta Singh, CMO Kangpokpi for their exemplary service in successfully delivering the new born babies at various quarantine centres during the pandemic.
While taking stock of the situation, Nemcha Kipgen discussed the various measures and activities implemented in connection with COVID-19, management of Institutional Quarantine Centres (IQC), mess, COVID Care Centre, etc with the officials.
After deliberating in length, the meeting decided to deactivate the centralized mess at Motbung as inmates at various IQCs within the area were discharged.
It also decided to segregate male and female at different IQCs.
The Minister also asked the Chief Medical Officer and other concerned authorities to prepare the proposed COVID Care Centre at BIET Centre in Leikop for inauguration by next week and to make it operational at the earliest.
The proposed COVID Care Centre will accommodate around 60 beds.
CMO Kangpokpi Dr Nilakanta Singh highlighted the need to recheck the proposed COVID Care Centre by the State authority and importance of imparting training to the health workers who are to be assigned at the centre.
He also highlighted the need to create more water reservoir at IQCs and that regular briefing of inmates about the IQCs guidelines, strict instructions to returnees etc, will help in containing the spread of the virus within the centre.
Meanwhile, Minister Nemcha Kipgen provided large quantities of protective gears to the District Administration, medical department, police and frontline workers including 300 PPEs, 5000 masks, 5000 pairs of gloves, face shields, apart from providing fuel for ferrying returnees from Imphal to their respective IQCs.
The Minister also exhorted the frontline workers to step forward in unison to contain the pandemic COVID-19 in the district, while assuring that she will continue to help the frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19 .
