Nagaland Assembly adopts resolution on Naga Political issue

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Monday adopted a resolution on Naga political issue reiterating the demand for the integration of contiguous Naga inhabited areas in the Northeast India.
Addressing the 9th Session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Monday, Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang stated that after having discussed the Naga Political issue on July 23 and 24 in the assembly, the House unanimously resolved and reiterated the earlier NLA resolutions dated December 12, 1964, August 28, 1970, September 16, 1994 and December 18, 2003 which demanded "integration of all contiguous Naga inhabited areas under one administrative umbrella" and to urge upon the Government of India to fulfil the same.
The Assembly then resolved to urge upon the Government of India and NSCN (K) to resume the cease-fire agreement to create peaceful and congenial atmosphere for the smooth progress of the Naga political dialogue.
The Assembly also urged the Government of India to withdraw the declaration of the whole of Nagaland State as a disturbed area under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 .
The resolution also urged upon all "Naga Nationalist groups and civil societies" to unite and work for the early settlement of the Naga political issue so that permanent peace could prevail.
The Nagaland Assembly resolved to urge upon the Government of India to expedite the political dialogue and to bring about a formula for an early resolution to the protracted Naga issue.
