Pro-ILPS movement Sit-in-protests, rallies continue

Imphal, July 27 2015: Continuing with the State-wide demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System, numerous organisations and various transport associations carried out mass rallies and staged sit-in-protests at different areas today.

The Nat Sankirtan Artistes, Guru Angou and Ibotombi Memorial Meitei Pung Arts Centre staged a sit-in-protest at Khuman Lampak Stadium Road (Dingku road) demanding immediate implementation of ILPS in Manipur and punishment of police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood.

Maibam Chingning Apunba Meira Paibi, Sun Light Club and Naorem Apunba Meira Paibi staged a sit-in-protest at Naorem Panthoibi Bazar.

Women Social Welfare Association of Wangkhei Angom Leikai also staged a sit-in-protest and formed a human chain demanding immediate implementation of ILP.

They also carried out a protest rally and submitted a memorandum to the Wangkhei A/C MLA Y Erabot and condemned the attitude of the MLA for being silent.

They also demanded that he (the MLA) resign.

The Anti-Drug Co-ordinating Committee, Manipur, United Social Development Committee, Auto-Association, Khomidok and Minority Development Forum, Manipur collectively staged a sit-in-protest at Khomidok Bazar supporting the pro-ILP movement in the State.

Joining hands with JCILPS, which is spearheading the ongoing demand for implementation of Inner Liner Permit System in Manipur, various auto drivers' associations stopped their service today and staged protest demonstrations across the State.

As part of the protest, auto drivers of Lainingthou Transport Co-operative Society Limited, Wangoi and Sagolband organized a sit-in-protest at Wangoi Bazar and Sagolband respectively.

Mantripukhri Lamlongei Auto Association stayed off the roads and staged a sit-in-protest today at Mantripukhri Lamlongei Community Hall.

Various placards which questioned Chief Minister Okram Ibobi for not implementing ILPS and denouncing Manipur police among others were displayed at the sit-in-protest site.

One of the protesters from Wangoi said that they organized the protest demonstration in support of the ongoing demand for implementation of Inner Liner Permit System in the State.

He also demanded implementation of a permit system and to bring an end to the issue.

Members of the North- Eastern Auto Service Association, Lamlong Bazaar also held a sit-in-protest at Lamlong Keithel suspending their service for the today.

The Laimanai Auto Owners and Driver's Association, Laimanai held a protest rally along the Stadium Road demanding implementation of ILP in the State.

The Koirengei Northern and Shiroi Auto Association and KYLC club of Koirengei also took out a protest rally from Koirengei and concluded at Minuthong.

The Emoinu Diesel Auto Co-operative Society, Khergao conducted a mass rally supporting the pro-ILP movement.

A collection of Auto and Tata Aris Service providers from Bishnupur, Nambol, Nambol Khoriphaba, Malom, Nambol Maibam, Ghari, Changangei and Nambol Phoijing operating along Tiddim Road held a protest rally from Bishnupur along Tiddim Road.
