Three non-Manipuri gold stealers nabbed at Kakching

Kakching, June 12 2012:
Locals of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai today rounded up three Non Manipuris who duped innocent people and steal their gold in broad daylight.
The matter came to the light when one of the three Non Manipuris, Tejkumar (15) s/o Nandakishore of Howrah, Kolkata came to the house of one Salam Manichou at around 10 am today.
Tejkumar told Taba, wife of Manichou, that he can clean the utensils made out of brass and copper sparklingly.
After cleaning some utensils, Tejkumar then told Taba that he can also clean gold ornaments to which, Taba gave him a golden necklace of three Mohurs.
However, she found out that the weight of the necklace was much lighter than its actual weight after cleaning.
Suspicious of the conduct, Taba told her family members not to let Tejkumar away and went to check the weight of the necklace and found out that the weight has been indeed reduced by around 1 Mohur.
Local people immediately rounded up Tejkumar and enquired him about the missing gold.
At first, he refused to accept the allegations but later confessed after locals started thrashing him.
He then recovered some gold from the liquid used for cleaning the necklace through some process.
Around that time, two other Non-Manipuris also came to the same locality with bags full of similar liquids and equipments.
The two were also captured by the local people and confirmed them to be part of the gang stealing gold while cleaning gold ornaments.
The two were identified as Pawan Shaw (33) son of Ramrup and Prasant Shaw (25) son of Rin Shaw both from Manuspur Basti, Hugli district.
The three Non-Manipuris were later handed over to Kakching Police Station.
According to police report, they came to Manipur about five days ago and have been stealing gold since then.
They were staying at Dharmasala, Imphal.
OC Kakching Police Station, Y Joykumar has cautioned the people from such gangs who duped people of their valuable belongings.
