UNC blockade from November 2 midnight

United Naga Council (UNC) has resolved to impose a 10-day economic blockade from midnight of November 2.This decision was taken during the UNC 'presidential council meeting' held on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed the overall political development and situation prevailing in Manipur particularly Nagas and tribals in the hills and resolved to impose 10-day economic blockade along the national highways and ban construction of national and international projects including Trans Asian Railways from midnight of November 2 in protest against the passing of three Bills and the two resolutions passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on the August 31 last and the killing of nine civilians state forces while defending the "inalienable rights of the tribal people" .
UNC said the Nagas and tribal people had organised series of bandhs, rallies, public curfews and submitted representations to the Government of India for political intervention on the 3 bills and the two resolutions.
The council stated that the silence on the part of the Government of India, UNC has been compelled to take up democratic form of agitation for immediate political intervention.
"Further, as per the resolution No.4 of the UNC Presidential Council meeting of the 7th September 2015 official intimation were served to all the 7 (seven) Naga MLAs to resign from their respective membership for not defending the rights and interest of the Nagas and tribal both inside and outside the Manipur Legislative Assembly on 9th September and also convened a joint meeting on 14th , 17th and 19th September 2015 however none of them have tendered their resignation defying the directive of the Naga peoples," the UNC resolution stated.
The UNC Presidential Council reaffirmed its previous resolution and banned the movement of seven Naga MLAs of Congress party in Naga areas with immediate effect till they resign from the membership of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Tribes Hohos and Naga public have been directed not to give them "any position and platform in Naga society including tribe, church, women, student, organisation/association, village level etc." Social sanction in any form will be imposed upon any one defying this directive, said UNC.
Petrol stock for 4 more days.
Due to the economic blockade imposed by different organizations along the National Highways of Manipur, petrol in the State will be out of stock soon.
According to the Indian oil Corporation (IOC), Imphal Office, the stock record on Friday was 466 KL for petrol, 2367 KL for diesel, 1611 KL for kerosene, 397.63 MT for LPG and 408 KL for ATF.
The current stock position indicates that petrol will be out of stock after four days, diesel after ten days, kerosene after 16 days and ATF after 20 days.
Meanwhile, State Government has started discussing ways and means to procure oil during the period of the proposed blockades.
