A team of City police station today arrested a 25-year-old fraud who allegedly withdrew money from others' accounts via ATMs.
He has been identified as Thingujam Bond alias Kiran of Thoubal Kiyam.
Police said that he deceived people coming at different ATM booths to withdraw money as a bank staff deputed there to help the customers.
Whenever any customer asked him for help, Bond assisted the customers only to memorise his/her password and replace his/her ATM card with another card.
He handed over another ATM card instead of the card of the customer.
After the customer went away from the place, he withdrew money from the ATM by using the card of the customer, police said.
Under strict instructions of Imphal West SP, teams of City police station were deployed at different ATM booths and parking areas to nab these frauds and vehicle lifters.
Today, a police team detected Bond standing suspiciously near an ATM booth located near Ibohal Cycles Shop, Paona bazar.
The police team immediately detained him for questioning.
During the course of interrogation, he revealed that he had fraudulently withdrawn money from different ATM booths by deceiving customers as a bank staff on October 25 and 26 .
He was later taken to police custody for further investigation.
