Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the closing of Pong Lambi by JNIMS Authority announced on Friday that the committee will impose a public curfew within the JNIMS complex from November 1 onwards.
The JAC continued their agitation on Friday and a large number of women protesters from Kongpal side locked the main gate of JNIMS for around one hour.
The protesters blocked entry of people from all points and prevented patients and staff of the insitute from going inside the complex.
Personnel of Imphal East Police at last dispersed the large number of protesters gathered there and opened the gate.

A woman member of JAC against the closing of Pong Lambi by JNIMS Authority said that Pong Lambi has been an important road for around six villages on the eastern side of the institute.
The route has been blocked after JN Hospital turned into JNIMS and people have been reeling under hardships due to the blocking of the road.
Public curfew will be imposed within the complex of the hospital from November 1, warned the member and appealed all including patients not to visit the hospital within the period of the curfew.
Meanwhile, the JAC also demanded Manipur University Professor Priyoranjan to clarify his statement given on a local cable network.
Priyoranjan is reported to have said that the agitation in connection with the Pong Lambi was launched by a few people for opening 5 to 10 shops in the area.
