Imphal, October 30 2015 :
After the CPI in Manipur accused the BJP of enrolling members without their consent, the Congress has now accused the BJP of enrolling around 7000 persons including the Lamsang Block Congress Committee President into its list of members without prior information.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal on Friday, Lamsang Block Congress Committee General Secretary Basanta Chongtham said that Lamsang Block Congress Committee President Herojit Ngangomba, Lamsang Nagar Panchayet Vice Chairman Thingujam Ibosana, Councilors of the Nagar Panchayet Ingudam Ibosana, Yumnam Shila, Nepram Angou and Laishram Sobha were enrolled as BJP members by one Phijam Pakchao without their knowledge.
The BJP list was counter signed by BJP Manipur Pradesh President Th Chaoba and State Enrollment Co-in-Charge M Asinikumar, said Basanta Chongtham.
He said around 7000 other persons in the Lamsang assembly constituency were also secretly enrolled by the BJP into its list.
Basanta said it was unfortunate that a national party like the BJP was resorting to such an act leaving their ideology and ethics, only to gain power.
People should join a party only if he/she likes the ideology and ethics of the party and tactics of membership enrollment by BJP seems like an act committed by parentless children, criticised Basanta.
He demanded a public apology from the BJP within a week and warned that Congress will seek the court's help if BJP fails to cancel the enrollment list.
Lamsang Block Congress Secretary Thoudam Netrajit, who also attended the press meet, said that people in Manipur know the exact intention of the BJP though the party is powerful at the Centre.
