BJP Kisan Morcha visits farmers

BJP Kisan Morcha, Chandel District today visited and interacted with the farmers, who were affected by shortage of rainfall in the district this monsoon.
While briefing the mediapersons, HB Joseph, President BJP Kisan Morcha Chandel district asserted that the State Government and the Department concerned must extend all possible help and ensure the farmers get the year's normal agricultural harvest in the wake of drought like condition prevailing in the western part of Chandel district.
Conveying the grievances, faced by the farmers, HB Joseph said that during the visit it was found that the total fields affected stood at an estimated figure of about 95 hectares spread across in about 20 villages under Chandel and Chakpikarong Blocks.
He added that the figure might be more than what has been told as the team could not visit all the villages.
During the field visit, the team visited Purum Tampak, Litan, Chandropoto, Lainingkhul, Purum Pantha, Lainingkhul, Purum Khullen Tonsen Tampak and Tonsen Khullen.
Assistant Chief of Purum Tampak and Chandropoto villages, MK Hazari Chothe in a similar statement said the deficit rainfall in the area has left about 10 and six hectares respectively without transplantation.
Therefore, he urged the Government to extend possible assistance.
At Khumhring village, the team met the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee Western Chandel KL Kanthu Anal where in similar cases occurring in other neighbouring villages were reported.
According to the village Chief of Topupokpi village, HL Beshel, about 30 hectares of paddy fields belonging to 57 farmers have been severely affected.
The Vice President of BJP Chandel district TS Konal, Vice President of BJP Kisan Morcha Chandel district KH Thamtit Lamkang and social activist TS Ismael were among the inspection team.
