4 held for killing minor; JAC demands ex gratia

Imphal, May 19 2011:
Bishnupur police Thursday arrested six persons suspected to be involved in the killing of a minor.
Two have been released after interrogation, and the four have been remanded to six days police custody.
Three-and-half-year old Thiyam Robiroy aka Tom, s/o Th Rocky of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Ward No.4 under Bishnupur police was found hanged yesterday.
The police report said that all the suspects arrested were from the village of the victim and they are under investigation.
Meanwhile, a JAC demanded justice for Robiroy.
It had condemned the gruesome and inhuman murder and pressurised the state government to book the culprit(s).
It had also demanded an ex gratia of ' 5 lakh through a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister.
Superintendent of Bishnupur police Th Radheshyam had assured the people that the police would try to keep the deadline of seven days and arrest the culprit(s) within the period.
In an unrelated news, 48-year old Longjam Abhiram Wednesday bludgeoned his son Longjam Nabakumar(22) aka Nanaoba with a hammer causing a 3-inch incision.
The incident took place in Kangla Shangomshang under Lamlai PS.
The son has been admitted to the Shija Hospital where he is kept in an ICU.
A local source said that Abhiram often harassed his family members under the influence of alcohol.
His son Nabakumar had stood up against his father which might have led Abhiram to attack him.
