Taking into consideration different activities of SHRI like Smile Train project, the Burn Healing Foundation selected the hospital from amongst all the hospitals of North East region for providing free corrective surgeries to burn survivors.
Clarifying that SHRI did not approach the foundation for any kind of assistance, Dr Palin said that some patients who came to the hospital's OPD today have been selected for free treatment of burn injuries and deformities caused by burns under the assistance provided by the Burn Healing Foundation.
Saying that there are many people in different corners of the States whose bodies have been deformed as they were not treated properly after suffering burn injuries, the SHRI Managing Director remarked that the opportunity given by the Burn Healing Foundation would certainly bring new hopes to these victims.
The Burn Healing Foundation collects donation from donors and the fund thus raised is used in treating burn victims and also in correcting their deformities, Dr Palin said.
There is no specific time frame for the programme for it would be a continuous one, he added.
