In the backdrop of alleged non-implementa-tion of MGNREGA schemes in Japhou Bazar, Chandel by the district administration and the grievances raised by the Japhou Bazar Job Card holders whose legal "right to work" of 100 days guaranteed by the MGNREGA provisions were continuously deprived from the year 2018 till date further coupled by the misused of MGNREGS wages by former chairman of Japhou Bazar Authority JS Angam Anal, Jaiphou Bazar district authority informed that a writ petition has been filed in the High Court of Manipur to seek justice for the hapless job card holders A release issued jointly by Jaiphou Bazar district authority chairman Hl Lordson and executive member Ts Winnergift alleged that beneficiaries' wages were misappropriated by JS Angam Anal along with his former secretary Lh Jonah for the past many years.
The nexus between Angam and officials of department concerned to indulge in financial impropriety from MGNREGA schemes led to enlisting of 76 non-locals and shop runners doing business in the district headquarter mainly hailing from the states of Bihar, Rajasthan, etc.
Such unethical conduct for monetary gains enraged the indigenous tribal from the neighbouring villages.
Subsequently, JS Angam Anal and LH Jonah were ousted from their respective posts by the members of Japhou Bazar households and press conference organised and broadcast/ published on July 28 and 29, 2019.The indication of such corrupt practices has been forwarded to authorities concerned from time to time, but fell to deaf ears, the release contended, while adding the district administration on the contrary halted the implementation of the MGNREGA scheme in Japhou Bazar Chandel since 2018 till date for reasons best known to them.
Such despairing scenario compelled us to seek justice through court and hence this writ petition, the release added.
