Imphal, July 16 2022:
YWC, Langthabal thumped AKSDO, Khangabok by 96 runs as ESU, Wangkhei notched up a 6 wicket win against YPHU, Lalambung Makhong in the ongoing 1st MNCA U-14 Boys' Tournament today.
After winning the toss here at PTRC ground, YWC-L opted to bat first but folded up their innings for a reasonable total of 157 runs in 24.1 overs as Bidyananda (4/11 in 4.1 overs) and Dinesh Saikhom (4/34 in 6 overs) wreaked havoc across the batting order.
Despite the batting department's failure, YWC-L bowlers put in a brave effort to bowl AKSDO out for just 61 runs within 16 overs to ensure their team register a convincing opening game victory.
Yumnam Achouba topscored for YWC-L with 43 runs in his name followed by Sorokhaibam Thoungamba (15), Yumnam Athouba (17) and Seram Tondonsana (11) in their innings which also saw Chingamba Elangbam of AKSDO pick two wickets to give his team some hope early on.

AKSDO chase however failed horribly as 6 batters including two openers fell on ducks and Chingamba Elangbam was the highest run getter with 8 runs in his name as YWC-L bowling attack led by Yumnam Athouba had proved too effective.
Athouba, who had racked up 17 runs earlier, returned with the best bowling figures of 4 for 18 in 4 overs as he removed the top four batters within five overs before Yumnam Sushil and Yumnam Brightson shared two wickets apiece and Pukhrambam Bonison claimed one to lead the AKSDO collapse.
Eventually Yumnam Athoubam was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Mayaikoibi's PCC ground, ESU bundled YPHU out for 96 runs in 21.5 overs and chased down the target in 14.3 overs with 6 wickets left to spare.
YPHU had to rue their decision to bat first today as they faced a torrid time from the initial stage of their innings with ESU bowlers performing exceptionally well and Hanjabam Naoba Sharma shone with a five for after Thokchom Simesh Singh got rid of the openers with ease.
Simesh Singh of ESU scalped wickets of openers Gaichuingam Gangmei (11) and Birbal Irom (1) to reduce YPHU to 38 for 2 before highest run getter Bisal Ningombam got out for a 34-ball 20 in the 15th over.
Hanjabam Naoba (5 for 16 in 4.5 overs) and Soibam Sayonba (2/18 in 3 overs) then combined well to break the back of YPHU batting order and restricted their rivals to a meagre 96 total in 21.5 overs.
In reply, ESU suffered an early jolt and left to struggle at 16 for 3 with Birbal Irom bowling out Md Atif Shah and Hanjabam Donba on ducks and Hanjabam Naoba on 5 within 5 overs.
However, M Amitkiyon (30 not out ) and Ahongshangbam Jenash (44) steadied the chase and forged a 77 run third wicket partnership to take ESU to a sniffing distance of a win.
Amitkiyon and N Kenedy the finished off the chase by posting a winning 98 in 14.3 overs with 6 wickets left in the hand.
Tomorrow, MPA, Thounaojam will play Shadow CC in a Group A league match at PTRC ground, Patsoi while PCC, Mayaikoibi will take on YPHU, Lalambung Makhong at PCC ground, Mayaikoibi.
