Three held with 300 urea bags

Imphal, July 16 2022:
Lamphel police arrested three individuals on Saturday around 12.30 am and seized 300 bags of urea, which they were transporting illegally.
The three individuals have been identified as Kumam Rajbala (52) son of late Sanahal of Moirang Turenbam Leikai, Ngangom Surjit (41) son of late Maipak and Leimapokpam Biradhaja (33) son of Kunjo both of Yumnam Khunou, Bishnupur district.
Police source said that a team of Lamphel PS led by OC inspector Khogendra Pangambam were carrying out frisking operation near Vishal Mega Mart, Chingmeirong area on Friday night.
A few minutes after midnight, the team stopped a truck (WB23E-2947) coming from Dimapur side towards Imphal.
Upon checking, they found 300 bags of urea (Dr Fasal brand) inside the truck.
The occupants of the truck failed to produce any documents legalising their transportation of urea.
An FIR has been registered at Lamphel PS and the three were produced before the duty magistrate on Saturday.
The trio was released on bail but the fertilisers are still in the custody of Lamphel PS and the same will be handed over to DC Imphal East on Monday, the source added.
