Water inundate RIMS quarters

Imphal, July 06 2011:
In an example of failed drainage system of the state government, flood water at Lamphel area have inundated around 20 quarters of RIMS including that of RIMS Director Sekharjit.
The situation has been prevailing since the last seven days.
Moreover the road which leads to DC office Imphal West has also been under water which causes many inconveniences to the people while commuting along the stretch.
Even though the condition persisted for the last seven days, state government is not doing anything to pump out the water which stagnates in the area.
Nurses and teaching staff of RIMS who are facing the hardship at most expressed fears of certain diseases which may spread out of the water logging.
The blocked water is giving out foul smell and causes allergies when contacted with skin.
Residents of the quarters in an interaction drew attention of the state government and concerned authority to pump out the blocked water at the earliest.
