Imphal, August 03, 2012:
The State Government has been planning to build a guest house at Bengali High School for short accommodation of retired teachers coming to the State capital to obtain their documents from far off places of the valley and hill districts.
This was stated by Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro during distribution of provisional gratuity (pension) to eight retired teachers in his office chamber at the New Secretariat today.
Bidding farewell to the retired teachers, Okendro said that the Government has been planning to build a guest house at Bengali High School so that retired teachers coming from far off places can put up there for a few days while seeking service related and other documents at Imphal.
Even if the Government has no money to build the guest house, all efforts would be put in to find a source of fund.
Once the guest house is constructed, retired teachers would be charged a nominal accommodation fee.
As for maintenance of the guest house, a few lakhs of rupees may be incorporated in the annual budget.
Claiming that it would remain a Government policy to ensure that retired teachers get all their dues and entitlements on the day of their retirement, Okendro instructed his own department to ensure that the same policy is always upheld.
He further instructed relevant officials to start processing files and documents of teachers six months before their retirement so that all their dues and entitlements are given on the day of retirement without fail.
Okendro also pledged that maximum efforts would be put in to pay off all the pending entitlements of retired teachers in a time-bound manner.
He further disclosed about his plan to give incentive awards to diligent ZEOs.
