RPF claims hand in attack

The proscribed RPF has claimed responsibility for the attack on Assam Rifles troops at Khoibu Centre, Chandel district in the afternoon of July 29. The attack was carried out by a special team of the PLA's Tactical Command, said a press release issued by the outfit's Department of Publicity chief Taohangsu Heiremcha.
The PLA cadres were preparing their meal in the kitchen of Biyang School after interacting with the chief and elders of the village when a team of 24th AR moved into the area.
On being informed about the sudden development, the tactical commander directed the PLA cadres to retreat to the periphery of the village as gun-fight within the village may cause large scale casualty to the villagers.
Acting on the order, the PLA cadres were retreating but the AR troops started firing.
As the AR troops started opening indiscriminate fire, the PLA cadres using heavy weapons pounded to pieces the foremost vehicle of the Assam Rifles, the outfit claimed.
Saying that they are aware of the extent of casualty suffered by the security forces, the outfit claimed three security personnel including a commissioned officer were killed while seven others suffered injuries in another attack of the PLA at Sita Khunjao on July 3. Of the injured personnel, one succumbed later.
Saying that the Indian military are invaders from across the boundary of Manipur, RPF/PLA asserted that it is their bounden duty to drive back all the invaders.
Stating that it regrets casualties suffered by civilians during confrontation between PLA and Indian military, the outfit appealed to stay away from security forces as far as possible.
