Imphal, August 03 2012:
A day after announcing ban on telecasting/broadcasting and maketing of MAMI (The Image), an A-rated film produced by Nongja Film Productions and directed by Jitendera Ningomba in the entire district, Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) burnt the DVD cassettes of the film at its Head Office this afternoon.
The student body has alleged that some of the scenes in the film have shown Churachandpur district in bad light.
According to General Secretary of the Union Sangboi Gangte, the selling of the obscene film in which some girls are shown physically and sexually exploited is much to the chagrin of the local populace of Churachandpur.
"What is equally deplorable is that one of the actresses of the infamous film systematically mentioned her make-believe home town as CHURACHANDPUR even as some others wear tribal traditional shawls, which indeed is blasphemous to the people of Churachandpur and the land", he asserted.
The CDSU urged the Director of the said film to tender an apology to the people of Churachandpur as it is a case of sell-out of Churachandpur people's image and reputation.
