Radheshyam distributes labour cards, opens training centre

Imphal, January 07 2018:
Labour and Employment Minister Thokchom Radheshyam today distributed Labour Cards to the registered labours at Heirok Higher Secondary School, Heirok and also inaugurated a four-month Tailoring and Cutting Training Centre at Salungpham Kangyambem Panchayat Ghar.
Highlighting the objective of opening of the training centre, Radheshyam said that the training is provided so that the women folk could become financially independent.
He informed that there are about 8-9 lakh students in Government schools in the State.
He said that the training centre can produce school uniforms required in the Governemnt schools.
The centre also provides the employees to earn at least Rs 8000-1000 per month, he added.
He said that most of the women selected for the training belong to BPL family whose spouses hold the labour cards.
He elaborated that the training is being imparted with an aim to reach out to those who are willing to work but does not have regular job, proper work shed and financial support.
While distributing the labour cards, the Minister said that a labourer could get various benefits through the card.
The card holders can get the facility of education for thei children, monetary help in the times of illness and demise, he added.
He said money will be deposited in phase wise to the respective account holders who are entitled for such benefits.
Later the Minister inaugurated two waiting sheds at Bengi and at Langmeithet Langjing Leirak constructed under MLA Local Area Development Fund.
Labour cards were also distributed to the beneficiaries at Ukhongshang Mamang Leikai.
