Imphal, July 06 2011:
A PIL against the non availability of judicial stamp will be applied to the High Court if the state government does not take up preventive measures at the earliest, said Advocate Khaidem Mani today.
Advocate Mani said that the non judicial stamps which are being used by common people as well as persons fighting cases in the court are available at denominations of ` 5, ` 10, ` 20, ` 50, ` 100, ` 200, ` 1000 and ` 5000 which court fees are ` 1, ` 2, ` 5, ` 10 and ` 20 respectively.
However non judicial stamps below the denominations of ` 50 are not available in the state.
Non judicial stamps of ` 5 and ` 20 are used by students and common peoples for various purposes including acquiring of new gas connections in the state.
Unfortunately people in the state are buying stamp papers of ` 50 for the purposes since they could not find any stamp papers of lower denominations.
Printing of such stamp papers are done by the state governments revenue department in Hyderabad and Nasik.
Stocks of the stamp papers are kept in Treasury.
Pressing the state government to make it available to the public, Advocate Khaidem Mani is taking the decision to apply a PIL to the Guahati High Court Imphal Bench to address the inconveniences facing by the people of the state.
