Farmers' training programme at Tawai Waichong Block

A one-day farmers' training programme on 'Rabi Crops Production Technology' has been organised today at 10 Mile, Tawai Waichong Block in Kangpokpi sub-division in which 50 farmers were briefed by resource persons on the latest technological advancement in the field of agriculture.
Apart from distribution of mustard, pea and rabi maize to the farmer participants, ATMA Senapati Project Director M Gojendra Singh also handed over to TA/DA amount of Rs 100 to each of the participants.
Highlighting that the training programme is a part of capacity building initiative undertaken by the department in 12 ATMA blocks of the district, the Project Director also conveyed to the gathering that exposure visit of the farmers to research stations such as Krishi Vigyan Kendra farms at Andro and progressive farmers' fields would be conducted on January 19 .
As resource persons of the training programme, CADA Joint Director (Retd) N Dhiren Singh, L sanatomba Singh and K Ibohal Singh presented a detailed account on integrated nutrient management, compositing, maintaining soil fertility by using balanced fertilizers, cultivation of potato and broad beans.
They also interacted with the farmers during which the latter pointed out various problems they face in growing crops in their respective areas.
