Medical conference at RIMS

The Department of Anatomy, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, will host the 62nd National Conference of Anatomical Society of India in November 2014 .
According to a statement issued by RIMS media advisor, the announcement was made today by Prof N Damayanti, head of Anatomy Department, RIMS.
She further said that over 1200 delegates are expected to participate in the conference which will be the second of its kind in Manipur, the first being in 1989 during the time of Prof Omar.
Apart from activities associated with the conference the delegates will interact, share their knowledge in different aspects of Anatomy.
In the 2012 conference at Bhubaneswor, 21 delegates including 14 post graduate students of the Anatomy Dept attended it.
It was also disclosed that the Anatomy department will be upgraded to provide all facilities to 150 students.
At the moment there are 100 students in the department.
According to Prof S.Sekharjit, the Director the opening of an Institute of Paramedical Science in RIMS is in the process.
Due to absence of the facilities in the NE region the students have been studying in private institutes at far off places entailing heavy expenses besides facing other inconveniences.
There are medical, dental and nursing colleges on the same campus in RIMS.
The students are benefited from these facilities and products from these institutes have been outshining their counterparts elsewhere, the advisor quoted the Director as saying.
