Imphal, March 10 2022:
Winning BJP candidate from Thongju assembly election Th Biswajit has asserted that the BJP will continue to rule the state for 30 more years.
Speaking to media persons after receiving his certificate of winning election at DC Complex Imphal East on Thursday, works minister Th Biswajit thanked the people of the AC for re-electing him.
He stated that though two years of the five-year term were affected by Covid-19 pandemic, improvement has been made in infrastructure, socio-economic condition and education.
He has taken measures to fulfil the wishes of the public including reducing unemployment and ensure welfare of youth.
Replying to a query on large number of NOTA votes polled in the AC, Biswajit observed that political parties must deliberate on NOTA votes.
It is a waste of right given to voters in a republic, but he knows that it has happened because people did not want the incumbent candidate or the challengers.
Despite this, he will work to ensure that this distrust is overcome by creating equal development for all, he emphasised.
Biswajit mentioned that he is focusing on youth to ensure economic development of all households in the AC and has started working on 'India to build India', 'Skilling Manipur to Manipur' and 'Thongju to build Thongju' programmes.
He is very thankful to central leaders for their keen concern towards the state.
BJP has now achieved full majority in the state.
It is not his authority to talk about forming alliance in the state as there is a party president.
Speculation has been made about party's choice for the post of chief minister, but the cadres of the party are disciplined and will follow the decision taken by the central leadership, he added.
Biswajit also remarked that Congress has been totally annihilated in other states as well.
It has even lost in Punjab.
How long the Aam Aadmi Party will be ruling is also unpredictable.
The party had predicted that it will cross more than 30 seats or even 40.Even in ACs where it lost, the margin was very low, he mentioned.
Meanwhile, in 10 ACs of Imphal East district, Thongju AC registered highest number of NOTA votes at 671 .
