BJP bags two; NPP, INC one each in Kakching ACs

Kakching, March 10 2022:
Dr Usham Deben, Mayanglangbam Rameshwar, Dr Radheshyam and Kangujam Ranjit have emerged victorious in their respective constituencies in Kakching district when results of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election were declared on Thursday.
In 36-Wabagai AC, BJP candidate Dr Usham Deben emerged victorious with a margin of only 50 votes against his nearest rival Md Fajur Rahim of INC.
Usham Deben secured 9,138 votes while Rahim got 9,088 votes.
NPP's Mayengbam Ranjit secured 5,873 votes while Janata Dal United candidate Md Sikander Ali got 3,601 votes.
Independent candidate Sakir Ahmed secured 1,501 votes.
On the other hand, NPP candidate and incumbent MLA Mayanglamabam Rameshwar retained 37-Kakching seat by securing 1205 more votes than his nearest rival Yengkhom Surchandra of BJP.
Rameshwar got 8,546 votes while Surchandra got 7,341 votes.
INC candidate Kshetrimayum Kennedy secured 5,873 votes while Janata Dal United candidate Naorem Nabachandra got 2,451 votes.
Other candidates Yengkhom Nilachandra of NCP and CPI's Yengkhom Roma respectively got 2009 and 676 votes.
Incumbent MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam of BJP too retained his 38-Hiyanglam seat as he emerged victorious with a margin of 2,029 votes against his nearest rival Huidrom Jiten of INC.
Dr Radheshyam got 8,613 while Dr Huidrom Jiten got 6,584 votes.
Janata Dal United candidate Elangbam Dwijamani got 6,559 votes while NPP's Maibam Dhanabir and RPI (A)'s Nongmaithem Sanjay respectively got 4,223 and 134 votes.
Congress heavyweight Kangujam Ranjit retained his 39-Sugnu seat for the six successive terms by defeating his nearest rival Mayanglamabam Binod of BJP with a margin of 1016 votes.
Ranjit secured 12,673 votes while Binod got 11,657 votes and independent candidate Kakyenpaibam Muktasana came in third place by securing only 555 votes.
