INC, BJP win 4 seats each; NPP, JD (U) 1 apiece

Thoubal/Kakching, March 10 2022:
As the results of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election were declared on Thursday, both Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 4 seats each, while Janata Dal (United) and National People's Party (NPP) bagged one seat each in Thoubal and Kakching districts.
In Thoubal district, JD (U) candidate Mohd Abdul Nasir (16,886) won the seat of 30-Lilong AC with a margin of 570 votes against BJP candidate Y Antas Khan (16,316).INC candidate and ex-CM O Ibobi Singh (15,085) defeated BJP candidate Leitanthem Basanta Singh (12,524) by 2543 votes to retain his 31-Thoubal AC seat.
INC candidate and sitting MLA Keisham Meghachandra (8889) also retained his 32-Wangkhem AC seat by defeating BJP candidate Yumnam Nabachandra Singh (7597) with a margin of 1292 votes.
Similarly, the seat of 33-Heirok AC was retained by BJP candidate and sitting MLA Thokchom Radheshyam (13,589) by defeating INC candidate Moirangthem Okendro (13,186).BJP candidate Paonam Broken Singh (15,765) defeated INC candidate Moirangthem Hemanta Singh (13,852) by 1913 votes to win the seat of 34-Wangjing Tentha AC.
In case of 35-Khangabok AC, INC candidate and sitting MLA Surajkumar Okram (16,710) crushed BJP candidate Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang (9632) with a margin of 7308 votes.
Meanwhile, in Kakching district, BJP candidate Dr Usham Deben Singh (9138) won the seat of 36-Wabagai AC by a margin of 50 votes against INC candidate Md Fujur Rahim (9088) .
BJP candidate and sitting MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam Singh (8613) retained his 38-Hiyan-glam AC seat by defeating INC candidate Dr Huidrom Jiten Singh (6584) with a vote margin of 2029 .
NPP candidate and sitting MLA Mayanglangbam Rameshwar (8564) retained his seat of 37-Kakching AC, by out-performing his nearest rival BJP candidate Yengkhom Surchandra Singh (7341) with a margin of 1205 votes; while in 39-Sugnu AC, INC candidate Kangujam Ranjit Singh retained his seat by securing 12,673 votes against BJP candidate Mayanglangbam Binod (11,657) with a margin of 1016 votes.
