BJP rules out alliance with NPP

Categorically stating that BJP would not form any post poll alliance with NPP, Chief Minister N Biren has asserted that BJP would form the next Government in partnership with other like minded parties even though BJP has secured absolute majority.
Briefing media persons after receiving election certificate from the RO concerned at Porompat DC office complex today, N Biren pointed out that no Chief Ministerial candidate was announced in any of the five States which went to polls recently.
"The Chief Ministerial face would be decided by BJP Central leaders.
Our foremost task as BJP MLAs is serving the people", Biren said.
"Even though we have missed the target of 40 seats, we have successfully secured absolute majority.
Nonetheless, BJP would uphold its coalition dharma", he said.
Biren said, "BJP would form partnership with like minded political parties who have suffered together with us but we will never work together with NPP" .
He also conveyed gratitude to the people of Manipur in general and Heingang in particular.
"Even though I could not campaign for the election even for one full day in my home Constituency (Heingang AC), people elected me with a huge margin.
For this, I am very grateful to the people of Heingang AC", he said.
He then appealed to all the people of Manipur to let them serve the State in a way greater than the last five years.
JD-U's Khumukcham Joykisan has been re-elected from Thangmeiband AC as he defeated BJP's Jyotin Waikhom by 3773 votes.
Karam Shyam of BJP won in Langthabal AC by defeating INC's Okram Joy by 2052 votes.
BJP's Kh Raghumani shocked ex-Deputy Chief Minister and NPP candidate Yumnam Joykumar to grab Uripok AC.
Raghumani defeated Joykumar by 909 candidates.
Speaking to media persons at DM College of Teachers' Education after receiving election certificate from the RO concerned, Kh Joykisan conveyed his gratitude to the people of Thangmeiband AC for re-electing him.
The voters of Thangmeiband AC have demonstrated that they could not be influenced or swayed by the ruling party's money power and muscle power.
Joykisan vowed that he would never let down people's trust.
He said that he would focus on education sector during his third term as a Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
"Even though I am a politician, I feel ashamed of contesting the election.
The recent poll was more of selection and election", Joykisan said.
Commenting on BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma's assertion that BJP would not encompass JD-U, the Thangmeiband MLA said that JD-U too did not say it would go together with BJP.
Wangoi AC's newly elected MLA Khuraijam Loken too conveyed gratitude to the people of his Constituency.
He said that he was able to defeat incumbent Minister and BJP candidate (O Lukhoi) because of people's love and blessing.
He vowed that he would make all efforts to translate the assurances he gave to the people of Wangoi AC into action.
Dr Sapam Ranjan who has been re-elected from Konthoujam AC said that he was extremely grateful to the people of his Assembly segment.
Saying that he has utmost respect for the people's mandate, Dr Ranjan said he would work at his best level to bring noticeable changes in Konthoujam AC.
