2nd Shija media fellowship concludes

The 2nd Shija Media Fellowship programme for media persons which began on May 5,2016 concluded today at the auditorium of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Health City, Langol.
Director of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Meghachandra Kongbam attended as the chief guest while Chairman cum Managing Director, Shija Hospitals Dr Kh Palin was the functional president.
President of All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) Wangkhemcha Shyamjai and Secretary of Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) Rupachandra Yumnam were the guests of honour.
Shija's initiative to boost medical or health reporting in the State was well appreciated and Meghachandra said that it is high time to look deep into health related problems and challenges faced by media.
Further, he emphasized on the importance of organizing such fellowship programme and said that certain knowledge and enhanced skills are needed to decode the technicalities of health and medical reporting.
He highlighted that certain States have enacted several laws to curb the menace of mob justice related to health care.
"Such practice could provide protection to health care service providers," Meghachandra said.
Wangkhemcha Shyamjai cheered the media fellows and urged them to use their knowledge in bringing professionalism within the media fraternity.
Rupachandra Yumnam added that such media fellowship programme conducted for two months by the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute will help media persons to enhance their skills and knowledge.
With the changing professional scenario enhancing and shaping young journalists is a must, he added.
Dr Palin asserted Shija's roles and responsibilities in bringing development and progress with the changing global settings and Manipur's Health care system.
He urged the apex body of journalists of Manipur, AMWJU, the Editor's Guild and DIPR to conduct several other such programmes together which will help the general public.
Shija Media fellows Moirangthem Rustum of The Sangai Express, Nongmaithem Reena of Imphal Free Press and Yumnam Ibomcha of Poknapham/ Peoples' Chronicle were felicitated by the dignitaries.
