Tamenglong, July 07 2016 :
The Zeliangrong Union, Tamenglong Zone, has on Thursday expressed displeasure over the continuing woes faced by the people of Tamenglong district.
The union in a statement blamed the Government for the current problems faced by the district.
It said several demands had been raised in the form of memorandums, ultimatums and agitation were launched against the Government of Manipur regarding the construction, renovation or restoration of Tamenglong-Khongsang road.
However, the Government has failed to pay any attention to these demands and agitation, the ZU said adding that the Drivers Association has partly repaired the road by themselves for the welfare of the public.
There have been many accidents and deaths along the said road in the last few months owing to bad road conditions.
In this regard, the Tamenglong public have demanded for early construction of the said road, the union demanded.
On the issue of Rangkhung-Tamenglong Road, ZU has appealed to the Government to make it an all-weather road as was promised by the Chief Minister in the last Orange Festival.
Many Department Heads and offices in Tamenglong are almost non-functional as many of the HoDs and officers are out of station, the union alleged adding that these officers even sent representatives to attend the District Level Officers' (DLO) meeting.
