Imphal, January 12 2015:
Locals of Heirok part II have resolved to take up the issue of non-supply of potable water in the area to the Court, National Human Rights Commission and Union Water Resource Ministry.
Speaking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, Friends In Need Society, FINE Society president Khumanthem Nimai said, "Heirok part II Pradhan had earlier stated that the area has been provided with proper potable water supply which is completely false.
We have been deprived of drinking water from the past 15 years and repeated demands have failed to yield any positive result.
Therefore, to protest the negligence of the department concerned, water pipes were uprooted by the furious locals on January 8" .
Refuting the statement of Pradhan Thokchom Dhamendra, Khumanthem Nimai questioned how can an individual claim to have a sufficient water supply in a place where there is no water.
Taking their demand ahead, Society president said that the matter will be presented before the Court, National Human Rights Commission and Union Water Resource Ministry.
