Driver, two others abducted

Kangpokpi, January 12 2015:
Three persons including a driver and handyman of a Tata truck plying along National Highway 2 were abducted by unknown miscreants yesterday night at round 9 .
Driver of Tata truck bearing registration No NL01L-4485, L Ibochaoba Singh (25) and his brother L Tondonba Singh (17), handyman of the vehicle, both sons of L Kesho Singh of Kanto Santipur and their friend Romen (21) of Khurkhul village were abducted from a place between Keithelmanbi and Kalapahar along NH-2 in Sadar Hills.
They were heading towards Kangpokpi yesterday night.
According to a reliable source, the vehicle belongs to one Anil Pandey of Kang-pokpi Ward No 7 and the abducted trio came from Imphal and entered Kanto Santipur to visit the ailing father of the driver and handyman and later they were heading towards Kangpokpi for Dimapur.
They made an entry at Saparmeina PS at around 8 pm, said a source.
L Ibochaoba Singh replaced his father L Kesho Singh, who is the actual driver of the vehicle due to his illness for some time.
Interestingly, there is no monetary demand to the vehicle owner or the family members of the abducted trio nor any communication has been made so far by the unknown abductors.
A case has been registered at Kangpokpi PS following which search operations have been launched to nab the unknown abductors, said a police source.
In the meantime, civil bodies of Kangpokpi including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union have condem-ned the incident stating such unrefined activities is not solicited at all.
The civil bodies also jointly appealed to the unknown abductors to unconditionally release the trio on humanitarian ground.
