Delhi to go to polls on Feb 7

New Delhi, January 12 2015:
Voting for Delhi assembly elections will be held on February 7 (Saturday) and the counting will be held on February 10 (Tuesday), the Election Commission announ-ced on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, the EC said, "In order to restore mandate of people, the election results will be known before February 15" .
"1.3 crore voters will vote to elect candidates from 70 constituencies in the national capital.
11,763 polling stations have been set up across Delhi," chief election commissioner
VS Sampath said.
"The notification for the polls would be done on January 14, last date for filing nomination would be January 21, the date for scrutiny would be January 22 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations would be January 24," Sampath said.
As per the SC order on Nota, Sampath said that the option to not vote for any candidate will be provided in all electronic voting machines.
Delhi has been under the President's rule since February 2014, when then chief minister Arvind Kejriwal stepped down from power after being in office for 49 days.
Major political parties in Delhi have already started preparing for the assembly polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the BJP election campaign on Saturday.
Addressing an election rally at Ramlila Maidan, PM Modi attacked AAP leaders, saying those who say they are anarchists should go to jungles and join Naxals.
Responding to PM Modi's charges, Kejriwal had said that AAP can both agitate and govern at the same time.
