Fitting tributes paid to Major Bob Khathing

A befitting tribute was paid to the first Padmashree awardee of the State Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing on his 25th death anniversary held at Valley View, Mantripukri today.
The commemoration programme organised by the family members of late Major Ralengnao Khathing was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, former Chief Minister Rishang Kei-shing, Deputy Speaker Pre- shaw Shimray, Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing, Rural Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa, former Art and Culture Commissioner RK Nimai, Professor Gang-mumei Kamei and IGAR South Major General Rajeev Chopra.
Extensive contributions of Major Ralengnao, his relentless service for the State and the country were recounted by dignitaries who attended the programme.

Speaking at the function, former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing said that the immense selfless service of Major Ralengnao should be remembered and respected by people.
Recounting the political venture of Major Bob Kha-thing, RK Nimai asserted, "Former Chief Minister RK Priyobarta and Major Bob Khathing were close associates and they did many commendable things for the betterment of the State.
They left behind many improissive ideas and policy frameworks.
The Government has now started implementing those ideas and policies." Deputy CM Gaikhangam in his speech described Bob Khathing as a remarkable person.
A State where there is unity and communal harmony as envisioned by Bob Khathing should be accomplished by the present generation through collective efforts, Gaikhangam added.
Gaikhangam said that he would look into what can be done towards observing the death anniversary of Major Khathing at a wider scale so that people are more aware about the late soldier and his achievements.
As a part of commemorating the death anniversary, a felicitation programme was organised today for students who had cleared the HSLC and HSSLC examinations conducted last year.
