Training programme held

Imphal, January 12 2015:
National Institute of Mentally Handicapped in association with State Commissioner for the People with Disabilities, Manipur organised a training programme for medical professionals on the issues related to differently abled persons at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel today.
Speaking at the opening function as chief guest, State Disability Commissioner L Nabakishore said that training would be given by the technical experts from National Institute of Mentally Handicapped, Hyderabad to the medical professionals of the State.
Saying that 15 per cent of the population of the world are differently abled persons, Nabakishore said that there are still many people in the State who are unable to come forward and disclose their handicap status due to social stigma.
Medical professionals would be mainly imparted training on how to identify the physically challenged people and bring them to the mainstream.
