Vehicles to allow entry in Imphal market areas

Imphal, June 12 2012:
Entry of motor vehicles in Paona and Thangal Bazar area of Khwairamband Bazar, which was restricted to ease traffic congestion, would now be allowed in one-way traffic and vehicles would be made to park on one side of the road only.
A decision to this effect was arrived at during a meeting of the State Cabinet today.
Accordingly, it was decided that BT Road would be made the entry point of all the vehicles heading towards Paona and Thangal Bazar area and parking charges would be levied at the rate of Rs 10 per hour.
As for the residents of Paona and Thangal Bazar area, the meeting discussed issuing of a separate sticker for parking their vehicles and levying an annual tax.
Officials concerned have been entrusted to finalise the matter.
Giving its approval to appointment of Jarnail Singh, the former Chief Secretary of Manipur, as the Advisor to Chief Minister on Power, today's Cabinet meeting also discussed issues related to power reforms.
It is said that Jarnail Singh himself is an Electrical Engineer.
Among other recommendations adopted, the Cabinet meeting also gave its approval to summoning of the 2nd session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly on June 27, implementation of Manipur Building By-law fully and giving away incentive rewards of Rs 5 lakhs to Md Ismat, who topped in the CBES examination and Rs 10 lakhs to his school.
