BJP dominates Imphal East

Imphal, March 10 2022:
BJP won big in Imphal East district by securing seven out of the 10 seats while INC, JD-U and NPP won one seat each in the district.
Counting took place from 8 am till 9 pm.
Chief minister N Biren retained his Heingang AC seat by defeating INC's Pangeijam Saratchandra with a margin of 18,272 votes.
INC's Thokchom Lokeshwar retained his Khundrakpam seat by defeating BJP's Thangjam Mohendro with a margin of 215 votes.
NPP candidate Sheikh Noorul Hassan secured Kshetrigao seat after defeating his closest rival BJP MLA Nahakpam Indrajit with a margin of 742 votes.
BJP minister Thokchom Satyabrata retained his Yaiskul seat after defeating his closest rival NPP's Huidrom Vikramjit with a margin of 632.Keirao AC was also retained by BJP MLA Lourembam Rameshwar by defeating his closest rival NPP's Md Nasiruddin Khan with a margin of 8209 votes.
BJP candidate Khongbantabam Ibomcha defeated JD-U's Kshetrimayum Biren with a margin of 121 votes and secured Lamlai AC.
BJP MLA Leishangthem Susindro retained Khurai AC after defeating his closest rival L Jayananda of NPP with a margin of 2237 votes.
Works minister Th Biswajit of BJP also retained his Thongju seat by defeating his closest rival INCs Seram Neken with a margin of 6689 votes.
Wangkhei AC was won by JD-U candidate Thangjam Arunkumar by defeating his closest rival BJP's Okram Henry with a margin of 753 votes.
Ex-MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar retained Andro seat by outperforming his closest rival NPP's Lourembam Sanjay with a margin of 1457 votes.
