MU youth fest concludes

Former Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Prof HNK Sarma has conveyed that universities across the India are not included in the list of top 200 world universities ranking.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of 32nd Manipur University Inter College Youth Festival 2018 at Centenary Hall MU Campus today.
"Spending on India's education sector is less than three percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)".
It is the main reason why Indian universities cannot be in top 200 world universities ranking.
Allotment of India's GDP on education sector needs to be increased if the country desires to become one of the leading Nations in providing world class education, he said.
He further said that India needs to open its universities to the world while interaction programs with foreign countries can attract students from foreign countries.
The infrastructure should be equipped with modern facilities and technologies, he added.
The closing ceremony of the festival was attended by Administrator of MU, Jarnail Singh as the chief guest, Dean of Students's Welfare Prof Yashawanta Singh, Dean School of Social Sciences N Lokendra Singh and former VC of MU HNK Sarma attended as president and guests of honour respectively.
The festival was organized by Manipur University Cultural Committee with the objective of spreading the concept of integrity, unity, peace and communal harmony among the youth of different communities in the State by providing a common platform to showcase their talents in the field of culture, literary and other activities.
The festival is an annual event where more than 500 talented students from 22 different affiliated colleges and PG classes of Manipur University took part.
Later, winners of various competitions held during the festival were honoured with trophies, mementos, cash and certificates.
PG classes of MU bagged team champion of the competition.
Meanwhile, Don Bosco College Maram was awarded best discipline in the Youth Festival 2018.Chief Guest of the event Jarnail Singh urged the students who participated in the festival to work hard to achieve their ambition in life.
He motivated the participating college students to share their constructive feedback about the festival.
He lauded the MU community for showing warm hospitality to the guest students during the festival.
