'Understanding Kukis in Modern Times' released

A booktitled 'Understanding Kukis in Modern Times: Essays by Late Dr TS Gangte and edited by Dr Priyadarshni M Gangte was released today at Old Lambulane during a simple function.
The book is a collection of 21 essays written by the late Dr TS Gangte covering wide range of issues of contemporary Manipur.
The essays address Dr TS Gangte's perspective about Kuki identity, Nationalism, land and Chieftainship, Christianity and education, their rights, Kuki's relationship with other communities, and it also includes a political analysis of Manipur as 'annexed territory of India'; said speakers at the event.
The book was released and dedicated by Rev Nekkholam.
Delivering the welcome address, Mangminthang Gangte said that the farsightedness of Dr TS Gangte is well reflected in his writings and his unmatched scholarship and analytical power of issues besieging contemporary era should be seen or read in the right perspective.
T Songminlun Gangte, Assistant Professor, DMU, Hoipi Haokip, Assistant Professor of YK College, Dr Ginneo Haokip, Assistant Professor and Dr P Lienzapau,Asst Prof, GPW College spoke about the book.
Editor of the book, Dr Priyadarshni M Gangte is the wife of late Dr TS Gangte.
She is Associate Professor in History Department and Coordinator, Human Rights and Duties Education, Damdei Christian College, Taloulong, Motbung.
The book is published by Maxford Books and priced at Rs 995 .
